Milestones



  • 1916

    1916 : NV WA Hoek Machine enZuurstof, a Dutch company established an oxygen company in Jakarta, followed by the establishment of other factories in Surabaya and in Bandung (“NV WA Hoek”).1924 : NV Javasche Koelzoor Fabriek established a carbon dioxide factory in Surabaya (“NV Javasche”).1958 : Both NV WA Hoek and NV Javasche were nationalized by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia where NV WA Hoek became PN Zatas and NV Javasche became PN Asam Arang.​



  • 1971

    1971 : Both PN Zatas and PN Asam Arang were consolidated into PT Aneka Gas Industri (Persero) and it is under the Department of Industries of the Republic of Indonesia. 1996 : Messer Griesheim GmbH, a German company and PT Tira Austenite, an Indonesian company have entered as the shareholders of AGI, accompanying the Government of Indonesia.



  • 1998

    1998 : The Government of Indonesia sold all of its shares in AGI to the other shareholders where Messer Griesheim GmbH shall owned 70% and PT Tira Austenite shall owned 30%. AGI changed its status to foreign-owned company.

    2003 : Messer Griesheim GmbH sold all of its shares in AGI to PT Tira Austenite and Mr. Johnny Widjaja. Later on in that same year, Mr. Johnny Widjaja sold all of his shares in AGI to Mr. Arief Harsono where he shall owned 49% and PT Tira Austenite shall owned 51%. AGI changed its status to domestically-owned company.

    2004 : PT Tira Austenite sold all of its shares in AGI to the Harsono family and from 2004 till present, AGI is fully owned by the Harsono family directly or indirectly.



  • 2008

    2008 : The Harsono family sold all of their shares in AGI to PT Aneka Mega Energi and Mr. Rachmat Harsono where PT Aneka Mega Energi shall owned 99.9% and Mr. Rachmat Harsono shall owned 0.1%. AGI conducted the issuance of Bonds and Sukuk I of AGI 2008. 2010 : Commissioning operation of new air separation plant in Jakarta. 2011 : AGI’s subsidiary started its operation of new air separation plant in East Java. 2012 : The issuance of Bonds and Sukuk II of AGI 2012.



  • 2013

    2013 : AGI began operation of new air separation plant in Batam, Riau Islands and Makassar, South Sulawesi.

    2014 : Three new plants started their operations: air separation plant in Bitung, North Sulawesi; air separation plant in Surabaya, East Java; and a carbon dioxide plant in Subang, West Java.

    2015 : Two additional ASPs started their operations in Medan, North Sumatra dan Banyu Asin, South Sumatra.

    AGI adopted clean renewable energy by installing more than 3000 solar panels which equals to 1 MW installation. The pilot project produces more than 1.600 Mwh annually.
