Sterilization gases likely ethylene oxide is produced as pure gas or mixed gas with carbon dioxide or halocarbon.
Ethylene oxide is highly reactive colorless gas that condenses to colorless liquid boiling at 10.4oC and 14.7 psia. It is miscible in all proportions with water, alcohol, ether, and most organic solvents. The vapors of ethylene oxide are flammable and explosive. It is generally non-corrosive to metals and leaves no residual odor or taste.
Ethylene oxide, both pure and mixed with carbon dioxide or halocarbons, is also used as a sterilant and fumigant for heat sensitive materials. Ethylene oxide used for sterilization of container (infusion bag), operating tools, and room free of contaminant with polluted air. It is used for sterilization of baby diapers, and sanitary napkins. It is also used for fumigation of dry plant (example coarse grass for gazebo house), furniture, handicraft, etc.
