History of the
Company
1916 - 1945
A Dutch Company, NV WA Hoek Machine
en Zuurstof built an oxygen gas plant in Jakarta in 1919, followed by another
plant in Surabaya in 1920 and in Bandung in 1939. Meanwhile another Dutch
Company, NV Javasche Koelzoor Fabriek built a carbondioxide gas plant in
Surabaya in 1924 these two companies is the root of PT Aneka Gas Industri.
1945-1971
In 1950 both companies were
nationalized. NV WA Hoek became PN Zatas and NV Javasche Koolzoer became PN Asam
Arang. While PN Zatas prospered and built another plant in Semarang, Makassar
and Medan, PN Asam Arang was stagnant. Then in 1971 both companies were merged
into PT Aneka Gas Industri (Persero) under supervision of Ministry of Industry.
1971-Now
Since 1971, as a state owned
company, a lot has been done by PT Aneka Gas Industri, increasing its production
capacity and modernized its plants and distribution system. In 1999 Messer
Griesheim GmbH from Germany and its Indonesian partner PT Tira Austenite bought
a portion of government's shares, and in 1998 Messer and Tira Austenite bought
the remaining of government shares. The share composition was then Messer 90%,
Tira Austenite 10%. In January 2003 Messer sold its shares in Aneka Gas to Mr.
Arief Harsono and to Tira Austenite, therefore the share compostion changed to
Tira Austenite 51% and Mr. Arief Harsono 49%. Finally in 2004 Harsono Family
bought all the share of PT Tira Austenite. |
